Terms of Service

These Terms apply to the DottieNote app, website, and related services. If you download or use DottieNote through the Apple App Store, your app license is primarily governed by Apple's Licensed Application End User License Agreement (Standard EULA). These Terms are DottieNote's supplemental terms and apply together with Apple's Standard EULA.
If these supplemental terms conflict with Apple's Standard EULA on a matter covered by the App Store app license, Apple's Standard EULA controls. Other DottieNote services, website content, cloud voice parsing, support services, and product rules are governed by these supplemental terms.
1. Acceptance
By using or accessing DottieNote, you agree to these Terms, our Privacy Policy, and Apple's Standard EULA for App Store distributed apps. If you do not agree, please stop using DottieNote.
2. App License
DottieNote is licensed, not sold, to you. You may use DottieNote on Apple devices you own or control, subject to Apple's Standard EULA, App Store Usage Rules, and these Terms. Except where allowed by law or open-source component licenses, you may not copy, modify, reverse engineer, transfer, sublicense, rent, sell, or distribute any part of DottieNote.
3. Account, Device, and Use Responsibilities
DottieNote's core features do not require a DottieNote account. You are responsible for the security of your device, Apple ID, iCloud, and system permissions, and for using DottieNote in compliance with applicable laws and third-party service terms.
4. User Content and Local Data
Tasks, notes, tags, planet records, and related content you create in DottieNote remain yours. DottieNote is local-first by default. If you enable iCloud sync, related data syncs across your devices through your Apple ID and iCloud/CloudKit. Before uninstalling the app or moving devices, confirm your data is synced or backed up.
5. Voice and Cloud Services
If you choose cloud voice recognition or task parsing, DottieNote uses cloud services only to support the current recognition and parsing request, turning voice input into editable task information. We do not store your recording, recognized text, or parsed content. You may choose local voice recognition to minimize cloud processing.
6. Dottie Stickers, NFC, and External Services
DottieNote may work with official Dottie Stickers, NFC, iCloud, Apple system capabilities, the App Store, and other external services. External services may be subject to their own terms and availability limits. We try to keep the experience reliable, but we do not guarantee that every external service will always be available in every region, device, or system version.
7. Subscriptions, Purchases, and Refunds
If DottieNote offers paid downloads, subscriptions, in-app purchases, stickers, or other paid items, pricing, benefits, trials, renewals, cancellation, and refund rules will be shown in the App Store, website checkout, or purchase flow. Purchases and refunds made through the App Store are handled under Apple's applicable rules.
8. Intellectual Property
The DottieNote app, website, interface design, text, graphics, marks, illustrations, planet assets, sticker designs, software code, and other content are protected by intellectual property laws. Unless expressly permitted, you may not copy, modify, distribute, sell, or use them commercially.
9. Acceptable Use
You may not use DottieNote for unlawful, infringing, fraudulent, harassing, abusive, security-breaking, restriction-circumventing, service-disrupting, or otherwise illegal or platform-violating activities.
10. Changes and Termination
We may modify, suspend, or discontinue features for product, operational, safety, legal, or platform reasons. If you violate these Terms, we may restrict, suspend, or terminate your access to related services to the extent permitted by law.
11. Disclaimer and Limitation of Liability
DottieNote is provided 'as is' and 'as available.' We work to maintain quality, but we do not guarantee that the app or related services will always be uninterrupted, error-free, or meet your expectations. To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, punitive, or consequential losses arising from use of or inability to use DottieNote. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain exclusions or limitations, and this section does not affect mandatory consumer rights.
12. Export Compliance and Governing Terms
You agree to comply with applicable export control, sanctions, and other laws. App license matters for apps obtained through the App Store are governed by the governing law and dispute terms in Apple's Standard EULA. Other matters under these supplemental terms are governed by the laws of the service provider's location, without limiting mandatory consumer protection rights.
13. Updates and Contact
We may update these Terms from time to time. Updated terms will be posted on this page and, where appropriate, surfaced in the app or on the website. Continued use of DottieNote means you accept the updated Terms. Questions may be sent to support@dottienote.com.
